Penhaligon’s Halfeti is a dark, saffron-and-oud drenched leather — an opulent oriental woody that smells like spice-trader’s treasure.

Composed by perfumer Christian Provenzano for British house Penhaligon’s as part of its Trade Routes collection, Halfeti (launched 2015) is inspired by a remote Turkish village where rare black roses bloom. Bright bergamot and grapefruit give way to a heart of saffron, rose, cardamom and cumin before settling into agarwood, leather, sandalwood and vanilla. One Fragrantica reviewer summed it up as “a saffron- and oud-drenched leather” — sophisticated, mysterious and unmistakably grown-up.
